Whale Watcher was designed for the intermediate knitter as an introduction to brioche knitting in the round. By its nature, brioche provides great insulation and warmth for our cold winter days. A surprisingly quick to knit project, some deliberate yarn choices take Whale Watcher from a lightweight knit hat (option 1) to a bulkier version (option 2). This is a versatile pattern choice suitable for both a man or woman.
SIZES: S (M/L)
Finished size: Because of the characteristics of brioche, it’s difficult to determine accurate gauge. The use of bulky yarn with big needles results in an elastic fabric providing a great fit for any head. Try it on as you work to get the best fit.

Option 1 (pictured above): Rowan Silk Twist (53% Silk, 30% Wool, 12% Super Kid Mohair, 5% Polyamide; 93yds/85m per 50g) and Rowan Kidsilk Haze (70% Super Kid Mohair, 30% Silk; 229yds /210m per 50g ball); 1 (1) ball each.
Option 2: Rowan Drift (100% Merino Wool; 87yds/80m per 100g ball); 1(1) ball.
Needles & Notions
16” circular needle size US 11/8.00mm; dpns size US 11/8.00mm.
Adjust needle size if necessary to achieve correct gauge.
Ring markers; tapestry needle.
